Greetings Hiphoppas!
It is hard to believe that this is the fifth Hip Hop in the Park festival. It seems like only a short time ago that we all got together and put on the first big show on the new stage in Louise McKinney Park. Now we are a staple festival that kicks off the season in Canada’s festival city. We are proud to put on one of Canada’s largest Hip Hop festivals right here in Edmonton... and to have been doing it for 5 years now.

Hip-Hop in the Park is a music and culture festival in Edmonton, Alberta held during the third week of every May, which celebrates Hip-Hop Appreciation Week. It is currently run by the Hip Hop in the Park Foundation, a non-profit organization endorsing hip-hop expression in a non-violent and positive way.
Hip-Hop Appreciation Week was founded by KRS-One’s Temple of Hip-Hop, and it marks the anniversary of when Hip-Hop became an official culture sanctioned by the United Nations. Below is The Hip-Hop Declaration of Peace, an official UN document that clearly states the pillars and principles of Hip-Hop culture.
